Friends of the Fearless Girls supports the inspirational efforts of Colombia's NGO, Niñas Sin Miedo.
Niñas Sin Miedo or Fearless Girls is a nonprofit organization that works with girls and young women in the community of Soacha, an impoverished municipality on the outskirts of Bogotá, Colombia. We utilize education and sports programs to prevent sexual violence, teenage pregnancy, and to break traditional gender norms.
Natalia graduated from Central University, Colombia as a publicist and earned a postgraduate degree from FLACSO, Argentina in Political Science and Cultural Affairs Communication. Prior to her launching Niñas Sin Miedo in 2016, Natalia worked for the global youth-run NGO AIESEC in Argentina and later served as Habitat for Humanity’s National Communications Coordinator in Colombia. As the founder and director of Fearless Girls, Natalia has been recognized both locally and nationally: RECON Peace Movement (Honorable Mention: 2016), Espectador Outstanding Leader (Finalist: 2016, 2017), Cafam Woman of the Year from Cundinamarca (2018).
What We Do
Niñas Sin Miedo employs two main tools to achieve our mission: the bicycle school and community workshops. We utilize the empowering sport of cycling as a tool to stimulate the girls’ own potential. We also partner with a female bike polo team to teach the girls this emerging sport while also emphasizing teamwork, communication, and leadership skills. The experience of riding a bike allows the girls to discover their capacity to learn and develop new abilities, feel more self-confident, exercise frequently, support their peers, and more.
